Driving Through Cades Cove

After lunch, we headed down to Cades Cove for a not-so-quick driving tour. This is an eleven mile loop of one-way, 10-mph-speed-limit, driving through some of the old properties that make up the park. They've kept a lot of the old farmhouses and churches in this section of the park, and it a neat trip....

Getting close to the loop....

'Ranger Granddaddy' at one of the churches along the route....

Traffic moved a little slow for the toddler (and Mia), so everyone got to get out of their car seats and sit in the back with Grandmama...

A "Bear Jam": what happens when too many people with cameras see a bear in the woods while driving on a one-lane road.... Of course you don't get to see the bear yourself- by the time traffic starts moving again, the bear in long gone.....
